Zagreb Airport has been selected “highly commended” airport in category under 4 million passengers during the 25th World Routes aviation forum in Adelaide, Australia.
The annual World Routes Awards took place at the Adelaide Convention Centre on 23rd September 2019. The awards are highly regarded in the aviation industry for recognizing marketing services that support new and existing air services, as well as excellence and innovation in the route development community.
Having served 3.34 million passengers, Zagreb Airport’s traffic had increased by 8% in 2018, on top of 12% growth registered in 2017. Following the entry of Emirates into the market in 2017, legacy carriers continued to dominate Zagreb market in 2018 with three new carriers, of which two operate long-haul flights, and several new destinations. First, Aegean Airlines launched direct flights from Athens in April, followed by Croatia Airlines’ new services to Dublin and Mostar. Air Canada’s new service arrived in June to make the company second Canadian airline operating direct flights between Toronto and Zagreb. The month September 2018 has witnessed the launch of first scheduled flights from Far East to Croatia. Korean Air launched year-round direct flights between two capital cities, Seoul and Zagreb.
